Hey, It’s Me, Annalee
If you’re here, chances are you’ve stumbled across me on social media, clicked on a recipe, wondered what protein powder I use, wanted to know where I found a cute outfit for ten bucks, or maybe you’re just trying to figure out who this woman named Annalee is.
So let me introduce myself.
I’m Annalee.
I’m a wife, mom, grandma, leader, thrift store treasure hunter, professional problem solver, and a woman who has lived enough life to know that very few things ever go according to plan.
My husband is my best friend. We’ve built a life together through the good days, the hard days, and all the completely unplanned days in between. We’ve laughed a lot, figured things out as we went, and learned that teamwork can get you through almost anything.
My family has always been the center of my world.
Not because everything has been perfect.
Actually, quite the opposite.
Like most families, we’ve had our share of challenges, heartbreak, lessons, mistakes, victories, and moments that changed us forever. But through it all, family has remained my anchor.
These days, my grandchildren have a special way of reminding me what really matters. They don’t care what size jeans I’m wearing, what project I’m working on, or how many things are on my to do list. They remind me to slow down, laugh more, and enjoy the people sitting right in front of me.
And honestly, that’s a lesson I still need sometimes.
For most of my life, I’ve been the person taking care of everyone else.
Maybe you can relate.
I spent years showing up for my family, supporting other people, solving problems, leading teams, helping people grow, and making sure everyone around me had what they needed.
Somewhere along the way, I realized something important.
You can spend so much time taking care of everyone else that you forget you’re allowed to take care of yourself, too.
That realization changed my life.
My health journey didn’t start because I wanted to fit into a certain size or hit a number on a scale.
It started because I wanted more life.
More energy.
More confidence.
More freedom.
More years with the people I love.
Since then, I’ve lost over 340 pounds.
Even typing that feels surreal.
But here’s what I’ve learned.
The weight loss is the part people see.
The healing is the part they don’t.
The confidence rebuilding.
The uncomfortable growth.
The identity shifts.
The moments when you’re standing in a dressing room wondering who the woman in the mirror is.
The victories nobody claps for.
The setbacks nobody posts about.
The work of learning to value yourself, trust yourself, and show up for yourself.
That’s the real journey.
And if I’m being honest, it’s still happening.
That’s one of the reasons I created this space.
Not because I have everything figured out.
I definitely don’t.
Just ask my family.
I created this space because I believe people need more honesty and less perfection.
I want to talk about the things we actually deal with.
The days when protein sounds impossible.
The frustration of buying smaller clothes and still feeling uncomfortable in your own skin.
The reality of living with health challenges.
The weird emotions that come with changing your body.
The struggle of balancing family, work, health, finances, and everything else life throws at us.
The little wins that deserve celebrating.
And yes, we’ll talk about thrift shopping too.
Because I love thrift stores.
There’s something magical about finding a hidden gem for a fraction of the price. Plus, when your body is changing, spending hundreds of dollars on a new wardrobe every few months isn’t exactly practical.
I’ve learned that confidence has very little to do with clothing size and a whole lot to do with how you feel about yourself.
A cute outfit helps.
But self respect helps more.
Around here, you’ll find recipes, practical tips, favorite products, meal ideas, thrift finds, stories from my own journey, lessons I’ve learned the hard way, and probably a few strong opinions sprinkled in for good measure.
Most of all, you’ll find honesty.
The good.
The hard.
The funny.
The frustrating.
The real.
Because life is real.
And I think that’s enough.
Whether you’re working on your health, rebuilding your confidence, navigating family life, figuring out who you are in this season, or simply looking for someone who gets it, I’m glad you’re here.
Pull up a chair.
Stay awhile.
You’re always welcome at my kitchen counter.
Love, Annalee
